Questions 1-3
Narrator: Questions 1 through 3 refer to the following conversation and room schedule.
Man: I just got off the phone with the clients from Axon Industries. They want to meet this morning to discuss the contract, but I forgot to reserve a room.
Woman: This morning? That’s short notice. What time are they coming in?
Man: Nine o’clock. I checked the booking system, and Room A is already taken. I think someone from finance has it all morning.
Woman: Let me pull up the schedule. Okay, it looks like Room C is booked at nine as well, but Room B is free. It’s a bit smaller, but it should work for four or five people.
Man: That’ll do. Can you book it for me while I send the clients a calendar invite with the location details?
Woman: Sure, I’m reserving it now.
Questions 4-6
Narrator: Questions 4 through 6 refer to the following conversation.
Woman: Hi, I’ve got an unhappy customer on hold. She ordered the Executive model office chair, but she received the Standard model instead. She’s asking for an explanation.
Man: Let me check the order log. Ah, I see what happened. We had a labeling issue in the warehouse last week. Some of the boxes were tagged incorrectly before shipping.
Woman: So it was our mistake, not hers. What’s the fastest way to fix this?
Man: I’ll arrange for a courier to pick up the wrong chair tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, I can have the correct model shipped out today on express delivery. She should have it within forty-eight hours.
Woman: That sounds fair. I’ll let her know and apologize on behalf of the company. Hopefully that’ll smooth things over.
Questions 7-9
Narrator: Questions 7 through 9 refer to the following conversation.
Woman: I’ve been looking at the schedule for the inventory count this weekend, and I’m a bit worried. We have over three thousand items to count, but only six people signed up to help.
Man: That does sound tight. How long do you think it will take with that many people?
Woman: Based on last year, we’d be looking at twelve hours at least. And some of the staff have already said they can only stay until the afternoon.
Man: What if we brought in some temporary workers? There’s an agency we’ve used before for seasonal help. They could send a few people on short notice.
Woman: That’s a good idea. Even two or three extra pairs of hands would make a big difference. Can you contact them today?
Man: I’ll call them right after this meeting.
Questions 10-12
Narrator: Questions 10 through 12 refer to the following conversation.
Man: Did you see the email about the parking garage? Apparently it’s going to be closed all of next week for repainting.
Woman: Yes, I read that this morning. We’re supposed to use the overflow lot on Riverside Drive instead.
Man: That lot is at least a fifteen-minute walk from here. I’m not looking forward to that, especially if it rains.
Woman: Actually, they’re running a shuttle bus between the lot and the main entrance. It leaves every ten minutes starting at seven thirty. I can forward you the schedule if you’d like.
Man: That would be great, thanks. I guess it won’t be so bad if I don’t have to walk the whole way.
Woman: No problem. I’ll send it over as soon as I get back to my desk.
Questions 13-15
Narrator: Questions 1 through 3 refer to the following conversation.
Woman: Excuse me, David. I’ve been trying to print these reports for the last twenty minutes, but the copier keeps jamming. Do you know what’s going on with it?
Man: Oh, I’m sorry about that. A technician was actually scheduled to come and fix it yesterday, but she called to cancel at the last minute. Something about an emergency at another office.
Woman: That’s frustrating. I really need these documents for my two o’clock meeting with the sales team.
Man: Well, there’s a working printer on the fourth floor, near the break room. Or, if you’d prefer, I can show you how to send the files directly to their laptops. That way they can view everything on screen.
Woman: The fourth floor sounds easier. I’ll head up there now. Thanks for letting me know.
Questions 16-18
Narrator: Questions 4 through 6 refer to the following conversation.
Woman: I’ve just finished reviewing the applications for the accounting position. I think Jennifer Marsh is our strongest candidate. She has eight years of experience and excellent references from her previous employer.
Man: I saw her resume too. She’s certainly qualified, but I noticed she hasn’t worked with our financial reporting software before. That’s going to be a problem since we use it for everything here.
Woman: We can offer training. The basics only take a couple of weeks to learn, and someone with her background would pick it up quickly.
Man: That’s true. And honestly, finding someone with both the experience and the exact software skills we need has been difficult.
Woman: Exactly. Should we schedule her for an interview next week?
Man: Yes, let’s do that. Can you check her availability for Tuesday or Wednesday?
Questions 19-21
Narrator: Questions 7 through 9 refer to the following conversation with three speakers.
Man A: Alright, let’s talk about the client reception next month. We’ve just received word from management that we need to cut the overall budget by fifteen percent. Any suggestions?
Woman: Well, the biggest expense right now is the venue. We’re paying quite a lot for that downtown hotel. What if we moved it to our own conference center instead? It’s free to use and still looks professional.
Man B: I’m not sure about that. The hotel location is more convenient for most of our clients. They’re expecting something upscale. I think we should look at the catering instead. We could switch from the sit-down dinner to a cocktail reception with lighter refreshments.
Man A: That’s a fair point about client expectations. Let me pull up the catering quotes and see where we can make some adjustments. We might be able to keep the venue and still hit our target.
Woman: That works for me. Just let us know what you find.
Questions 22-24
Narrator: Questions 10 through 12 refer to the following conversation and schedule.
Man: Have you figured out how we’re getting to the client meeting on Thursday? It starts at ten, so we can’t afford to be late.
Woman: I’ve been looking at the train schedule. There are a few options, but since travel expenses have been tight lately, I’d rather not take the express service if we don’t have to.
Man: That makes sense. As long as we arrive with enough time to spare, I’m fine with the regular train. We should probably get there at least half an hour early to set up the presentation.
Woman: Right. So we need to arrive before nine-thirty at the latest. Let me see… yes, there’s one that works perfectly. I’ll book the tickets online right now.
Man: Great. And could you arrange for a taxi to pick us up from the station? I don’t want to waste time looking for the office building.
